FAQ’s

When does your next session start?

We offer classes year round, except on holidays or other scheduled events with specific start dates for new students.  We ask that if you are new to pottery or AEP, you call or email to sign up for our next scheduled round. Please check out our Current Class Schedule tab to see available sessions. We will make sure that you have dedicated teaching with an instructor for the Intro classes.  As you gain experience, you will work independently and at your own pace with instructors present to answer any questions you may have during the ongoing sessions.

How do I sign up for classes?

To sign up for classes you can contact us via phone at 937-839-2529 (CLAY) or via email at artisticearthpottery@gmail.com.

Do you offer Paint Your Own Pottery classes?

No. We do not offer molds to be painted.  In our studio you will learn how to create your own pieces by forming the clay through one of our many options from slab work, extrusion, coil work or wheel throwing.  Once the piece is created, you can decorate by slip trailing, underglazing, carving and glazing your final piece.  If you are looking for something that allows you to enjoy a one-time or short-term clay experience with family or friends, we recommend checking out Studio 14 or Cozy Melts.

How should I dress for class?

Wear comfortable clothes and shoes that you don’t mind getting dirty.  Working with clay can get messy but the clay comes out of fabric without much effort.  However, some glazes and other materials may not, so don’t wear anything that you aren’t willing  to part with.

We also recommend that you remove all rings and bracelets and clip your fingernails as short as possible to avoid multiple problems when throwing clay. Fingernails are all too likely to poke, gouge, rip and scratch wet clay when you are handling it.

Do I need to bring any tools/supplies?

As a teaching studio, we supply everything you will need to work with clay in our studio. We have all the necessary throwing, trimming and texture tools. We also offer a large variety of underglazes and glazes for decorating.
