We offer a few options for the beginning clay enthusiast to get started on their journey.

Class Offerings

Intro to Wheel Throwing

Our intro to Wheel Throwing consists of 4 classes on specific dates that allow the beginner to learn the basics throwing steps and time to work on these steps over a few sessions. This includes wedging, centering, pulling and shaping on the wheel. You will also be able to trim, decorate and add handles as well as finishing up your select pieces in the final class.

Intro to Clay Basics

Our intro to Clay Basics is for someone interested in hand-building techniques instead of the wheel. It consists of 4 classes on specific dates that allow the beginner to learn the basic hand building skills such as pinch pot, coil techniques, slab work and extrusion during the first 3 classes as well as finishing up your select items in the final class.

Ongoing Studio Class

Once a new student completes one of the Intro classes, they are eligible to continue in an ongoing class with more flexibility and additional training of more skills as you progress. This is a 6-session package that can be continued as long as there is available space.

It is funny, because my daughter asked me to take a pottery class with her. We started with a few sessions, and I stayed with it for over a year now. Mark and Amy are very good at instruction. In fact, I’ve progressed, with their help, to the point where I’m in charge of making my daughter’s wedding centerpieces.
